COGGINS

A negative Coggins test is REQUIRED for every horse changing ownership regardless of address. This is a Kansas Dept. of Ag regulation that became effective January 3, 2025. If a consignor wishes to have a Coggins test pulled on site:

• Horses must arrive at Colby Livestock Auction Co. no later than 11:00am CST on FRIDAY, AUGUST 29.

• Coggins test will be pulled and results returned by sale time on Saturday.

• Fee of $100 will be deducted from consignors check.

• Riding and lead through horses – first come first serve sale order

• Loose horses

FEES

• Commission: 10% with no minimum

• No sale: ½ of commission

• Pass out: ½ of commission on last live bid

• Yardage: $10.00

GUARANTEED SOUND HORSES

All horses sold as guaranteed sound will sell according to the following definition: The horse moves free of any limp or gait abnormality on all four legs as viewed by external examination. This does not include an extensive lameness exam with flexion test, x-rays, or ultrasound examination.

Checks for horses that are sold as guaranteed sound will be mailed on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. If a buyer finds a “guaranteed sound” horse not to be sound they must notify Tristen at Colby Livestock Auction Company by 5pm on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
